{"id":1669,"date":"2019-03-29T10:24:07","date_gmt":"2019-03-29T10:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/healthrights.mk\/?p=1669"},"modified":"2021-12-24T10:24:29","modified_gmt":"2021-12-24T10:24:29","slug":"council-of-europe-adopts-first-ever-international-legal-instrument-to-stop-sexism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/healthrights.mk\/?p=1669","title":{"rendered":"Council of Europe Adopts First-Ever International Legal Instrument To Stop Sexism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>\u0418\u0437\u0432\u043e\u0440: WUNRN \u2013 29.03.2019<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/healthrights.mk\/images\/Vesti\/2019\/04.2019\/1\/Council%20of%20Europe%20Adopts%20First%20Ever.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Recommendation CM\/Rec(2019)1 of the Committee of Ministers to member States<\/strong><strong><br \/>\non preventing and combating sexism<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/search.coe.int\/cm\/pages\/result_details.aspx?objectid=090000168093b26a#_ftn1\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Council of Europe Document: <a href=\"https:\/\/search.coe.int\/cm\/pages\/result_details.aspx?objectid=090000168093b26a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/search.coe.int\/cm\/pages\/result_details.aspx?objectid=090000168093b26a<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/portal\/-\/council-of-europe-adopts-first-ever-international-legal-instrument-to-stop-sexism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/portal\/-\/council-of-europe-adopts-first-ever-international-legal-instrument-to-stop-sexism<\/a><\/p>\n<p>States should step up their fight against sexism in all walks of life, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/search.coe.int\/cm\/pages\/result_details.aspx?objectid=090000168093b26a\">Recommendation<\/a> just adopted by the Council of Europe\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/cm\">Committee of Ministers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the #MeToo and other recent movements that have heightened awareness of persistent sexism in society, the Council of Europe\u2019s Committee of Ministers adopted a recommendation to stop sexism, which includes the first ever internationally agreed definition of it.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendation stresses that sexism is a manifestation of \u201chistorically unequal power relations\u201d between women and men, which leads to discrimination and prevents the full advancement of women in society.<\/p>\n<p>Because it is \u201cwidespread and prevalent in all sectors and all societies, and (\u2026) sexism and sexist behaviour are rooted in and reinforce gender stereotypes,\u201d sexism is defined for the first time ever in a dedicated legal instrument to tackle it, via a comprehensive list of measures and areas where sexism occurs, from advertising and media, to employment, the justice sector, education and sport.
